1. Electricity
Electricity contracts in Spain are managed through a combination of the grid operator and your chosen energy supplier. When moving into a property, the contract either needs to be transferred into your name or, if the supply has been cut, reactivated — a process that involves the grid operator and can take several days. You’ll need a NIE, a bank account for direct debit, and the property’s supply point reference (CUPS). We handle the paperwork and coordinate with the relevant providers.
2. Water
Water billing in Valencia is managed municipally. Transferring the water account into your name when moving into a rental is a straightforward but necessary step — left undone, bills continue in the previous tenant’s name, which can create complications.
