Xativa & Bocairent

Xativa & Bocairent

Bocairent

Once we come to Bocairent you will be amazed by this fortress made up of its historical centre. Unique streets and houses will bring you back to medival times, the Arabic style with climbs, stairways, turnings, little squares… The “Old Town” is recognised as an artistic-historical heritage site and one of the reasons why people should visit it. Another way to get close to the history of this place is to visit museums and monuments, such as the Place de Bous that is carved in rocks and reminds us of the old Roman amphitheatres.

Xativa

Xàtiva is a small town and located in the province of Valencia. The town is maybe small but has a long history: Arabs brought the technology to manufacture paper to Xàtiva in the 12th century, so the town was known for being an early European centre of paper manufacture, its schools and good quality education. After the Christians repopulated the town it became the center of one of the most powerful families of the Renaissance area, the House of Borgia. The Borgia family gave Popes to the world like Callixtus III (Alfonso de Borgia) and Alexander VI (Rodrigo de Borgia).

Let’s get lost together in the narrow streets of the historic center and discover its fountains, palaces and hidden treasures which tell us stories and legends from historical times. Xativa was elected as one of the seven wonders of Valencia in 2008.
