Alicante & Guadalest

Alicante is a lively coastal city on the Mediterranean, serving as the capital of its province. Known for its beautiful beaches, rich history, and cultural heritage, Alicante is a vibrant destination for expats and travelers alike.

During our excursion, we will explore the Castle of Santa Bárbara, the old town, and the port. Alicante is the second most populated city in the Valencian Community. Its history stretches back to Greek settlers, who called it Akra Leuké (“white promontory”). The Romans later named it Castrum Album (“white fortress”) and Lucentum (“place of light”). When the Arabs arrived, it became al-Laqant, which evolved into the modern name Alicante in Spanish.

Alicante draws visitors with its Mediterranean climate, historic center, castle, and white sand beaches.

Nearby, Guadalest is a charming mountain village in the province of Alicante. Nestled in the Guadalest Valley, it offers breathtaking scenery, a rich history, and unique cultural heritage.

Guadalest is home to the highest number of museums per capita in Spain, including the Museum of Ribera Girona, the Salt and Pepper Museum, and the MicroGigante Museum, making it a fascinating stop for history and culture lovers.
