Everyday
Trip to Xativa & Bocairent

Xàtiva is a historic city in the province of Valencia, just 25 km from the Mediterranean coast. In the 12th century, the Muslims introduced paper manufacturing here, making the city a reference point in Europe for culture and education. Later, it became home to the powerful Borgia family, one of the most influential dynasties of the Renaissance, which gave the world two Popes.

Named one of the Seven Wonders of Valencia in 2008, Xàtiva is best known for its impressive castle stretched across two hilltops. Exploring it, you’ll stand on the same ground where countless battles were fought and civilizations rose and fell.

Nearby Bocairent, a picturesque town in the Valencian Community, is equally fascinating. Its medieval charm is alive in the maze of narrow cobbled streets that feel like a journey back in time.

What makes Bocairent truly unique, however, are its Moorish caves—ancient grain storage chambers carved directly into a cliffside and connected by more than 50 small windows. You can explore these caves, though be prepared: some passages are very narrow and require crouching. If you’re claustrophobic, it’s best to admire them from the outside.
