Cabo de Gata - Almería - Tabernas

White coastal villages, untouched nature reserves, beautiful beaches, a world famous film set, ancient castles, interesting museums…There is a lot to see and do in this beautiful region of Spain, so let us use the public holiday for this perfect weekend getaway!

Cabo de Gata Natural Park

The Natural Park of Cabo de Gata is a place of pure natural beauty. Wonderful landscapes, beaches with hidden caves, fantastic viewpoints – what else do we want?!

The end of May and the beginning of June is the perfect time to visit. We can enjoy the beautiful beaches like Playa de los Muertos, Playa de los Genoveses or the cove of San Pedro and have the chance to go on a kayak tour at La Fabriquilla or Agua Amarga. 

Kayaking Cabo de Gata:

Discover the beaches and coves in a kayak! This unique experience takes about 3 hours and offers you the best panoramic views. Plus, you can access many places and corners only by boat, so this is something you should not miss!
Important: This is an optional activity, which is not included in the price. The additional cost is 30€. The starting point will either be in La Fabriquilla, Cala del Cuervo, Las Negras or Agua Amarga depending on the wind. 

Pueblo San José & Las Negras

Los Genoveses, Mónsul and San José are a must-see and known for their wonderful beaches with crystal clear water and fine golden dunes!

Las Negras: It is one of the most touristic towns in the Natural Park of Cabo de Gata – Nijar named after the volcanic black mountain El Cerro Negro. The beach made of black pebbles is perfect for snorkelling. 

Desert of Tabernas

This area is considered Europe’s only proper desert area – and it’s a famous western movie location! Indiana Jones, Once Upon A Time In the West, Exodus and Lawrence of Arabia are just some examples!

Visiting this place will feel like being part of a real old western movie when you see cowboys, saloons, a sheriff’s station and typical dance halls.

Almería

Almería offers not only beautiful beaches but also historical heritage with monuments like the Alcazaba of Almería, La Rambla de Almería, the archaeological museum, the Cathedral of the Incarnation of Almería or the Plaza de la Constitucion. Besides, the festival of San Juan is celebrated on the 23rd of June in Almería, turning the city into beautiful colours. 

Hiking Trip

We will choose the route depending on the wind on the 2nd day (because we will have visited one of the places already by kayak). 

1st option: Route Las Negras – San Pedro Cove

This route along the cliffs of the coast is an impressive and comfortable hiking track to the Cove of San Pedro, which you can only access by foot or by boat. It is about 10km, so 1 hour to the cove and 1 hour back. The beginning is uphill but the rest of the trail is mostly flat.

2nd option: San José Magic Coves

This hiking track leads us along some of the wonderful beaches like Playa de Genoveses with hidden coves and beautiful nature. It rewards us with a perfect view from the Morrón de los Genoveses, a small hill close to the sea.

Our Hotel

We will stay in the 4* Hotel Avenue in DOUBLE rooms – a single room would be an extra charge of 22€.

We try to divide the room regarding gender and same age. 

Program

Thursday 23/06
We will leave Valencia after Lunch around 3 PM and go directly to Almería to see the festivities of the Fiesta de San Juan. After arrival, we will check in at the hotel and have enough time to enjoy the Fiesta!
Friday 24/06 (Public Holiday)
After having breakfast, we will go to the beach. Those of you who want to kayak will go with the kayak company. The others have time to stay at the beach. Around 6 PM we return to Almería and visit the city. If you like to, you can have dinner together with the group.
Saturday 25/06
After breakfast, we will get ready for the hike to the beach. At 3 PM, we leave for the Tabernas “El Hollywood” in Spain. We have the option of seeing several shows / visiting the village before we head back to Valencia at around 8 PM.

Meeting Point: Avenida Aragón 31 (In front of mestalla)

COVID-19 Safety Measures:

In order to travel and enjoy safely we will have to follow these protocols to travel with VLE / Wexcursion. First of all, if you feel some symptoms like fever / cough / respiratory problem you should not participate to the trip. Use of a mask will be mandatory at all times on the bus. The bus will be sanitized before and after each service. Before boarding the bus, temperature control will be done. We will give you a disinfecting wipe so you can safely clean your seat. Do not print a ticket to avoid handling paper, show us the QR code on your mobile or just tell us your name and surname. During the guided tour everybody will wear the mask.

Up to 3 weeks (21 days) before refund of 80% of the total amount.

Up to 2 weeks before (14 days): 60% of the total amount

Up to 10 days before: 50% of the total amount.

After 10 days, we cannot refund any money unless it is due to government restrictions. If you are late to the meeting point, we will not refund your money and you will lose it, The program is designed with a lot of experience and guides but there may be changes due to traffic, weather or a better alternative (we will inform you by mail and WhatsApp group). The amount of the reservation and the activities are not refundable.
