Cuevas de San José (Caves of San José )
Cuevas de Sant Josep offer its visitors a unique boat ride along one of the most spectacular underground rivers. You will find ancient paintings on the walls of the caves, which are declared a World Heritage Site by UNESCO. The river of San José is approx 2.5 km long and the temperature is around +20ºC.
The Caves are also called “The heart of the Earth” and are accessible to tourists since the 1920s, when reconstructions and lights installations were finished and security standards were met.
Vilafamés is a beautiful town that you can find on the official list of Spain’s Most Beautiful Towns in 2015. This is a small town which houses are painted in rustic brown and whitewashed and its streets are filled with history and culture – a truely relaxing atmosphere.
Vilafamés has an Arabic old town which origins date back to the 11th century, as well as its castle on the hill above the town. You can admire the panoramic view from the castle which was built in the 14th century. However some parts of the old town were destroyed during the Spanish Civil War, in the 1970s reconstructions started to recover its glory.
You cannot miss this trip to this idyllic village with its iconic streets and charming houses!

11:00 - Arrival
We will arrive in Vilafamés around 11:00 and we will have time to eat and visit the city
14:30 We meet and head to Cuevas de San Jose
We meet in the bus and go to Cuevas
15:30 We arrive to San José's Caves
We arrive at the caves and we will be there until 17:30. We will divide into groups with guides to go in the boats and navigate through the rock tunnels of the caves.
17:30 We go back to Valencia
We meet on the bus and leave for Valencia.
