Cueva Tallada & Denia

Cueva Tallada & Denia

Cueva Tallada

The famous Cueva Tallada is called like this because it was used as a quarry to extract raw stone (the architecture of Xàbia’s town centre is full of this characteristic stone). In Spanish, the carved or “cut” cave consists of parts flooded by seawater and dry rooms. It is located at the foot of the Montgó and Cabo de San Antonio, within the Natural Park of the Montgó Massif and the Marine Natural Reserve of Cabo de San Antonio. Cova Tallada is about 75 metres wide and has an average height of about 15 metres, although it reaches a maximum height of 40 metres.

The route is short (about 2 km round trip) and takes a little over an hour to complete (plus the time you spend in the cave). In the end, we’ll find a somewhat dangerous path where we will have to use ropes and chains in some of the more slippery sections. We, therefore, recommend suitable footwear for mountaineering and do not recommend it for small children. Don’t forget to bring water and food, but also be careful not to throw any trash in the water: we don’t want to contaminate such a natural wonder.

Denia is considered to be the town with the most parties in Spain, a lot of fun with your new friends is guaranteed! Moreover, this charming town, full of small colourful houses, has a very attractive artistic heritage and an enviable natural environment. The obligatory point for you to visit is the castle and afterwards, you can enjoy its white sandy beaches and the great beauty of its small coves, ending the day with a drink.
