Get your paperwork right before it slows you down
Setting up insurance in Spain often requires specific documents and administrative steps that can delay the process if not handled correctly from the start. What seems straightforward can quickly become complicated without the right preparation.
How We Help You We guide you through the full administrative process and help you prepare all necessary documentation in advance. Our goal is a smooth, delay-free setup so your coverage is in place when you need it — not days or weeks after you expected it.
1. Understanding what you actually need
Insurance requirements vary significantly depending on your situation — your residency status, visa type, whether you have access to the public health system, and whether you’re insuring yourself, your family, your vehicle, or your home. Some visa applications require proof of health insurance before they are approved. We clarify what applies to your situation before you start the process.
2. Health insurance documentation
Private health insurance is a requirement for certain visa types, including the Non-Lucrative Visa and the Digital Nomad Visa. Insurers have specific requirements about what the policy must cover and how it must be documented for the application. We help you prepare the right paperwork and make sure the policy you choose meets the consulate’s requirements — not just the insurer’s standard offering.
3. Document preparation and translation
Depending on your origin country and the type of insurance being set up, supporting documents may need to be translated or certified. We identify what is required, prepare your dossier, and flag anything that needs additional steps before submission.
4. Coordination with providers
We liaise with insurers and administrators on your behalf where needed — following up on applications, clarifying requirements, and making sure nothing stalls due to a missing document or an unanswered query.
5. What we don’t do
We are not insurance brokers and do not sell policies. Our role is to prepare and coordinate the administrative side of the process. Where you need independent advice on which policy to choose, we can point you toward brokers with experience working with expats in Spain.
Not sure what documents you need? We put together a personalised checklist as part of our Settlement Pass.
