TRIP THROUGH PAÍS VASCO

Details

Embark on an unforgettable journey through País Vasco with Expats!
In December, we’ll visit: San Juan de Gaztelugatxe, Bilbao, Gorbea, Vitoria, San Sebastián, and Salto del Nervión.
Our adventure includes two scenic hikes—through Gorbea Natural Park, the largest in the Basque Country, and to Salto del Nervión, Spain’s tallest waterfall.
We’ll also visit “Dragonstone”, or “Rocadragón”. Does that ring a bell? If Game of Thrones comes to mind, you’re spot on—we’ll discover the stunning location recreated as San Juan de Gaztelugatxe.

BILBAO

Among Spain’s most vibrant cities, Bilbao stands out for its cultural energy and stunning urban transformation in recent years. The city’s most famous landmark, the Guggenheim Museum, is a global symbol of Bilbao and a proud icon of Basque culture.

SAN JUAN DE GAZTELUGATXE

San Juan de Gaztelugatxe is a small islet on Spain’s Basque coast, connected to the mainland by a narrow stone bridge and 241 steps leading to a tiny hermitage dedicated to Saint John the Baptist. Surrounded by dramatic cliffs and the sea, it’s famous for its breathtaking views and as a filming location for Game of Thrones (Dragonstone).

GORBEIA NATURAL PARK

At 1,482 meters above sea level, Gorbeia Natural Park is one of the most significant landmarks of the Basque mountains, marking the natural border between the provinces of Biscay and Álava.
Here, nature reveals its wildest side — explore the Itxina Protected Biotope, a mysterious limestone labyrinth, and admire the Gujuli Waterfall, plunging more than 100 meters into a deep gorge.

Merzouga is more than a destination—it’s a sensory journey that stays with you long after you’ve left. It’s a place of adventure, peace, and deep connection to both nature and Morocco’s rich cultural heritage.

SAN SEBASTIÁN

Elegant and timeless, San Sebastián — the symbol of the Belle Époque — is a seaside gem that captures the essence of sophistication. Stroll through its charming streets and discover treasures such as the Victoria Eugenia TheatrePlaza de CervantesMiramar Palace, and the legendary Hotel María Cristina.
Famous worldwide for its film festival and gastronomy, San Sebastián is often described as Spain’s most beautiful city, where culture, history, and natural beauty meet in perfect harmony.
